Dr. Denver Tolliver is a professor of transportation at North Dakota State University (NDSU) and also serve as Director of a transportation-focused research and education center on campus known as the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI). In addition, he is director of the Mountain-Plains Consortium (a multi-university consortium competitively selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation to serve Federal Region 8), director of the interdisciplinary graduate program in Transportation and Logistics at NDSU, and chairman of the Transportation Leadership Graduate Certificate Program (a national online education program). Dr. Tolliver hold a Ph.D. in environmental design and planning and a master's degree in urban and regional planning, both from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Tolliver is the author of a textbook focusing on transportation, more than 130 papers in national and international journals, and more than 150 technical reports for federal and state agencies, including the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Railroad Administration, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Idaho Transportation Department, the Nebraska Department of Roads, the North Dakota Department of Transportation and others. In the course of his research career, Dr. Tolliver has been awarded more than $30 million in grant funds as principal investigator from a diverse group of federal, state, local, and private entities.
