Meet Our Researcher

Carolyn A. McAndrews, Ph.D.
Dept. of Urban and Regional Planning
Assistant Professor
Phone: (303)315-1000

Dr. McAndrews's fields of research are transportation planning, policy, and design. Her scholarship asks how emerging public health, safety, and environmental goals become part of mainstream transportation practice, infrastructure, and technology. Equity is an important concept in her research, and she studies the distribution of transportation's health impacts, as well as how disenfranchised groups organize to influence transportation decision-making. Her research demonstrates how policy change in transportation requires new organizational, institutional, and technological relationships to facilitate knowledge transfer, not only new tools and performance standards. Dr. McAndrews has a PhD in city and regional planning from UC Berkeley, dual-masters in transportation engineering and city and regional planning from UC Berkeley, and an undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University.
